SCIENCE!

In the next 33 days (yes only 33 days!) we will learn all about organisms and the three things they need to survive... Air, Food and Water.

We planted organic snow peas to test out this theory!



 Friends made predictions based on four different scenarios. Each seed was "planted" in different ways. 

#1- Air, Food and Water
#2- Air and Food
#3- Air and Water
and finally
#4- Air




Each scientist was able to make a prediction based on their thinking. Each day we will check our seeds and record their progress! Let's keep our fingers crossed for sun and so that the peas will GROW!

Day TWO!

Day two is truly wonderful! We have so much fun together! Today we started working on our first classroom book and WOW it's going to be AMAZING! So many beautiful illustrators and creative thinkers in this class. Also today we completed our first of many Math and Writing rotations. It's been a busy busy busy day! Now to the fun stuff. It's always said that pictures speak much louder than words and I agree 100%. So here are the pictures from our magnificent day TWO! Right after lunch we went outside to explore our school garden with Nurse Amy! We picked marigold seeds which we are going to plant in our classroom! Sunshine Chair

This is our Sunshine Chair! It is a very special place in our classroom where friends can go to relax, regroup, think and feel safe. In our classroom anyone can go and sit in the sunshine chair any time they want. Friends also may be invited to sit in the sunshine chair. While sitting in the chair friends are able to watch Zogika and calm their minds. It is not just for students! I myself have used the chair once or twice when I am feeling frustrated, sad or if I just need some space. I do this to model the expectations for how to use the sunshine chair, to identify feelings and to help friends self regulate. Happy News!

Hello! I wanted to share with everyone that I have been accepted into Oxford University's MSc in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition beginning in the fall of 2017. I received my offer this morning during our delayed opening. Some friends overheard my excitement and I explained to them that I am going back to school this fall to become a better teacher. I reassured them that I am not going anywhere right now, will see them off to first grade and will be back. Thank you for your continued support and I am excited to finish a great year together!
