This morning I surprised friends with a new member of our classroom family, Zogika! Zogika is a beta fish and can be found at our sunshine chair. As a class we have been working with the company Student Treasures to publish a free classroom book! The title of our book is I Spy Shapes. It is inspired by the many I Spy books in our classroom library. In the book you will be asked to find hexagons, triangles, circles, rhombuses, and trapezoids. It was also a great opportunity to talk about concepts of print such as the title, title page, dedication page, table of contents, etc. (Title Page) (Dedication Page) This is the second time I am working with Student Treasures and I am really excited about this opportunity. Here is the book we made my last year at JES. (This is the deluxe hardcover) You as families have to opportunity to purchase if you wish. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY THE BOOK. This am we had all school morning meeting, but in a new place... the GYM! We learned about the Chill Zone today and read a new book Moody Cow.  I wish you well! Love, Miss Brehm

My goal of keeping fresh flowers at the sunshine was sustained by attending a childhood friend's wedding this weekend. She happily gave one of the centerpieces to our classroom and it looks lovely! I wish you well! Love, Miss Brehm

This morning our school took part in an evacuation. In backpacks you will find a letter from Ms. Graf explaining what took place. If you have any questions as she states please don't hesitate to reach out. With that being said, I was truly impressed with how every student in our class listened, cared for one another and displayed kindness and respect. (It wasn't just me saying that either... I know I can be biased). Many teachers came to speak with me about how impressed they were in how as a class we handled the whole day. When we returned to school we had our snack, did a little math and then went to lunch. It was so routine, friends got right back to our day. I am very proud. I wish you well. Love, Miss Brehm

Everyone is coming home with their very own copy of Caps for Sale . This book has become a quick favorite of ours and we LOVE to read it! We started our morning ROCKIN' with a jam and then eased into some great literacy stations. Today we worked on the alphabet (identifying letters and sounds), the sight words the, see, and a, and added a new book about fall to our book boxes! It was a productive morning up until recess when we had our school evacuation... more on that in my next post! Hope you all had a great FUNday!
