Rockstar Readers

This morning Readers shared the books they have been working on in small groups. Each group took turns reading their story and then talking about their favorite page. Friends who were listening were incredibly kind and respectful even clapping after each group shared. A wonderful way to start our Monday! I wish you well! Love, Miss Brehm

T A P the S A P

Today is the day! The day we tapped our maple tree! As soon as the tap went in the sap started to pour out.  We are all so excited to see how much sap we will get! A big thank you again to End-O-Road Maple for donating the tap and bucket!  I wish you well! Love, Miss Brehm

The C A R D B O A R D Challenge

Today we accepted Mr. Bouchard's challenge and created alongside the UID kindergarten unicorns! My classroom wasn't big enough for all 25 of us and our boxes so Mrs. Burroughs opened up the library! Our morning was spent thinking, exploring, taping, gluing and decorating alligators, unicorns, rocket ships, hearts and many more incredible works of art! We took a break halfway through to eat snack, listen to our favorite Elephant and Piggie books and jam out together.  At the end we took a walk through the school to discover what other friends had created. It was an amazing day full of fun! I wish you well. Love, Miss Brehm

We're Making M A P L E

We are super excited to announce we're making MAPLE! Today Mrs. Bradshaw and Henry, a former student, came in after lunch to talk about their sugar farm End-O-Road Maple. They talked about the sugar process, how much sap it takes to make maple syrup and read us a story! Mrs. Bradshaw also donated a sap bucket, tap, lid and maple syrup so we can tap our own tree at JES and enjoy some yummy syrup!  After Library we walked outside and tied a ribbon around the tree we are going to tap. On Friday, we will be tapping the tree. Mr. Bouchard is going to help us! A big thank you to Mrs. Bradshaw and Henry for sharing and donating everything we need! This weekend you can go check out their sugar farm for Maple Open House Weekend! They would LOVE to see you there! I wish you well! Love, Miss Brehm

Celebrate!

Today we celebrated a friend's trip around the sun! It's always a special day when we get a chance to take a moment and celebrate the friends we love. I wish you well. Love, Miss Brehm

How-To

Last week we started a new type of writing! We switched from narrative to informational writing. Writers have been working on How-To stories. There have been How-To stories that talk about how to make toast, a pb & j, plant flowers, ride a skateboard, swim and much more! Currently there are three parts to our How-To writing that we are focusing on. The first is telling what we do in steps, then numbering the steps (making sure they are in order you can't eat a pb & j if it doesn't have any peanut butter or jelly on it!), the last part is making sure there is a picture for each step that is labeled and detailed! Writers have been BLOWING me AWAY with their writing. We have hit the ground running and have been creating How-To books that are so informative that they are teaching others about things they love! Today we started taking turns teaching friends what we know how to do. Today a friend taught us how to make cupcakes! It is so amazing to see! I can't wait to s
