Reminders

There are just a few things I would like to remind you about!

Tomorrow we are skyping with Dianne White author of Blue on Blue. We have brainstormed questions together and have even started to write our own poem inspired by the book. It is sure to be amazing!

Here is a taste of our poem inspired by Dianne White...

Fluffy snow
On winter night.
Green on green
White on white.
Skating, sledding
Snowy day.
Silver on white
On golden day.

If you are able to please donate to our classroom PIE (Partners in Education) themed basket raffle fundraiser. Our classroom theme is Summer Fun! I have set aside a bin in our classroom for donations. The items must be in by Thursday, March 9th. Thank you for supporting our class and school.

Scholastic Book Orders are due this Friday, February 17th.

Our Flynn field trip is Tuesday, March 21st. We will leave JES at 8:30 am and return at 11:15 am. We will have snack before we leave and be back in time for lunch at 11:30. If you have any questions please let me know. Please fill out and return the field trip permission slip as soon as possible.

Happy Hump Day!
Love,

Day TWO!

Day two is truly wonderful! We have so much fun together! Today we started working on our first classroom book and WOW it's going to be AMAZING! So many beautiful illustrators and creative thinkers in this class. Also today we completed our first of many Math and Writing rotations. It's been a busy busy busy day! Now to the fun stuff. It's always said that pictures speak much louder than words and I agree 100%. So here are the pictures from our magnificent day TWO! Right after lunch we went outside to explore our school garden with Nurse Amy! We picked marigold seeds which we are going to plant in our classroom! Check out all the fun we had!  It was a busy day indeed, but so much fun! I can't wait for tomorrow! Love, Miss Brehm

Sunshine Chair

This is our Sunshine Chair! It is a very special place in our classroom where friends can go to relax, regroup, think and feel safe. In our classroom anyone can go and sit in the sunshine chair any time they want. Friends also may be invited to sit in the sunshine chair. While sitting in the chair friends are able to watch Zogika and calm their minds. It is not just for students! I myself have used the chair once or twice when I am feeling frustrated, sad or if I just need some space. I do this to model the expectations for how to use the sunshine chair, to identify feelings and to help friends self regulate. Also so friends know that it is not a time out chair or take a break chair.  Feel free to stop by anytime and check out this amazing space in our classroom! Love, Miss Brehm

PAINT DAY!

Paint is READY! We are SO excited to meet Mary and paint our elephant!! ____________________________ Today was AMAZING! It surpassed all my wildest dreams! As a group we had SO much fun creating and painting our elephants! What an amazing experience it was to end our year together on! I hope you enjoy the pictures and are able to come and check out the wonderful elephants we created with MARY! Our morning started with Mary sharing what she does and different murals she has done throughout the US. Then we watched a quick video of her time in Chester, PA painting elephants!  Then we started to PAINT! Here is the evolution of our elephants!  To the finished product! One elephant will be hung in our classroom and the other will be hung somewhere in the school for everyone to enjoy!  A truly AMAZING day!  I wish you well! Love, Miss Brehm
