A Little Bat

Batty is based off of Paul Galdone's book Three Little Kittens. It is one of our favorite star books! As Batty explores each friend's home, we wanted to share our wonderful story with you!

We were so inspired by Galdone that we wanted to create our own story. As a class we brainstormed ideas for animals, how many animals we should have, what that animal lost, what the mom said he couldn't have and even what they smelled at the end! Then we each took turns illustrating the pictures thinking about how Batty, his mom and the bug would feel throughout the story!

It was a lot of fun creating and listening to writers respect other writers ideas and get excited about this awesome story they were creating together!

 Hope you enjoy!

Just a small note:
As spring activities start to wind up I would love to know about games, recitals or any activity friends are partaking in. One of my favorite things is to see them participate in something they love and talk about often in school. Please email me with dates/times and I will try my best to be there!

Have a wonderful weekend! Hopefully the rain will go AWAY!

Love,
Miss Brehm

First Day Fun!

Today was a wonderful day! We had fun exploring our classroom, learning different expectations and just getting to know one another! We enjoyed our first special today LIBRARY! Mrs. Burroughs is so nice and we enjoyed our time together. As a class we read the book Shh We Have a Plan by Chris Haughton. It is a wonderful book that we will be creating our first classroom book about! In the whirl of the end of day I forgot to send home the first day letters with our schedule. I will make sure to get them home tomorrow in Thursday folders. I am so happy that we are all together! I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us!  Love, Miss Brehm

Sunshine Chair

This is our Sunshine Chair! It is a very special place in our classroom where friends can go to relax, regroup, think and feel safe. In our classroom anyone can go and sit in the sunshine chair any time they want. Friends also may be invited to sit in the sunshine chair. While sitting in the chair friends are able to watch Zogika and calm their minds. It is not just for students! I myself have used the chair once or twice when I am feeling frustrated, sad or if I just need some space. I do this to model the expectations for how to use the sunshine chair, to identify feelings and to help friends self regulate. Also so friends know that it is not a time out chair or take a break chair.  Feel free to stop by anytime and check out this amazing space in our classroom! Love, Miss Brehm
