Miss Brehm's Kindergarten Classroom

I hope everyone had a peaceful break! We jumped right back in the swing of school yesterday! It started with our writing celebration! Everyone enjoyed exploring friends work. Friends took turns listening to the story and looking at pictures! Today we started exploring geometry! We used pattern blocks to fill in a large triangle!  The two big questions we had to answer were how many of each shape did we use we use and how many shapes did we fit in the big triangle! As we take this week to reflect on what we are thankful for I will be thinking of you and your families. I am truly honored to be your child’s teacher and to have this amazing opportunity to make an impact at such a wonderful time in their lives. It means the world to me. Today was such a wonderfully busy day! We kicked off our day celebrating the last time we will all be together for a week!!! (I am going to miss them so much!) Our day kicked off with finishing our turkeys! Then watching Charlie Browns Thanksgiving and eating toast and popcorn! It was so fun! After lunch we celebrated another friend's birthday! It is so fun to get to hear about all the amazing moments of friends lives! Many times I am told how much everyone LOVES birthday celebrations. It warms my heart! Next we had a special guest come in from VEEP (Vermont Energy Education Program). We talked about shade and it's importance. Then we got to explore the BIG Question: How can we use a tree's shade to help us? It was great to see them work together, think together and explore together. Today we received a special letter and our special POWER POINTERS! We also got brand new reading cards! Every friend has their own and we use it as a reminder for what we are working on. Before we start independent reading we check our cards to remember exactly what we need to practice. Right now everyone is practicing POINTER POWER! Our letter is now in a safe place where we can refer back to it! Reader Man knows Spider-man! Can you believe it!?!
