Emergent Reading and a Birthday Celebration!

Mrs. Moore came in to our class today to work on reading with us! We had so much fun reading independently, with our reading partners, and as a whole group! We even got to act out Caps for Sale in our own words! Caps for Sale  is an emergent storybook. A book that can be read to your child many many times! So eventually when looking at the pictures they are able to read the story back to you in their own words. Often times repeating the text on the page. It is great fun! We will continue to read and act out Caps for Sale and many more emergent storybooks!

Some emergent storybook titles are The Three Billy Goats Gruff,  Mrs. Wishy Washy, The Carrot Seed, The Three Little Pigs, etc. If you would like more titles let me know!

Today was also a friends birthday! It was our first birthday celebration as a class! We had so much fun learning new things about our friend and listening to one of his favorite books! Happy Birthday!

A hump day for the books for sure!
Love,
Miss Brehm

p.s. This week Library is having a PAWs celebration! The celebration this week is everyone is able to take home TWO books! Friends are very excited!

First Day Fun!

Today was a wonderful day! We had fun exploring our classroom, learning different expectations and just getting to know one another! We enjoyed our first special today LIBRARY! Mrs. Burroughs is so nice and we enjoyed our time together. As a class we read the book Shh We Have a Plan by Chris Haughton. It is a wonderful book that we will be creating our first classroom book about! In the whirl of the end of day I forgot to send home the first day letters with our schedule. I will make sure to get them home tomorrow in Thursday folders. I am so happy that we are all together! I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us!  Love, Miss Brehm

Sunshine Chair

This is our Sunshine Chair! It is a very special place in our classroom where friends can go to relax, regroup, think and feel safe. In our classroom anyone can go and sit in the sunshine chair any time they want. Friends also may be invited to sit in the sunshine chair. While sitting in the chair friends are able to watch Zogika and calm their minds. It is not just for students! I myself have used the chair once or twice when I am feeling frustrated, sad or if I just need some space. I do this to model the expectations for how to use the sunshine chair, to identify feelings and to help friends self regulate. Also so friends know that it is not a time out chair or take a break chair.  Feel free to stop by anytime and check out this amazing space in our classroom! Love, Miss Brehm
