Building Your Libraries!

This week I am starting to send home leveled books! The leveled books sent home are not new to your child. It is a book read to me, Mrs. Bahr, peers in partners, small group and whole group. Please add these books to your library at home. You may keep these books until the end of the year! I keep track of the books I send home. I will let you know in June when to send them back!

Bring these books on weekend trips. Have friends read them by themselves, to you, before bed, before school, to grandparents, siblings, stuffed animals or absolutely anyone anything! These books will help to keep friends fresh over our week long breaks!

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. I will strive to do this once a week. (GOAL!) I may not get to it, but I am going to try!

Be prepared to be BLOWN away! They are all SUPER readers!

Love,
Miss Brehm

p.s. We added to our classroom word-a-pillar! I have not introduced all of these, but all of the new ones will be by Monday! You, said, me, my, it, in!

First Day Fun!

Today was a wonderful day! We had fun exploring our classroom, learning different expectations and just getting to know one another! We enjoyed our first special today LIBRARY! Mrs. Burroughs is so nice and we enjoyed our time together. As a class we read the book Shh We Have a Plan by Chris Haughton. It is a wonderful book that we will be creating our first classroom book about! In the whirl of the end of day I forgot to send home the first day letters with our schedule. I will make sure to get them home tomorrow in Thursday folders. I am so happy that we are all together! I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us!  Love, Miss Brehm

Sunshine Chair

This is our Sunshine Chair! It is a very special place in our classroom where friends can go to relax, regroup, think and feel safe. In our classroom anyone can go and sit in the sunshine chair any time they want. Friends also may be invited to sit in the sunshine chair. While sitting in the chair friends are able to watch Zogika and calm their minds. It is not just for students! I myself have used the chair once or twice when I am feeling frustrated, sad or if I just need some space. I do this to model the expectations for how to use the sunshine chair, to identify feelings and to help friends self regulate. Also so friends know that it is not a time out chair or take a break chair.  Feel free to stop by anytime and check out this amazing space in our classroom! Love, Miss Brehm
