Day 4 of 13 Days of Kindness / Game Day/ A New Friend

Day four is make a kindness chain!

We brainstormed what kindness means and we came up with these words... complement, smile, helpful, nice, love, kind, manners, care, respect and share. Then friends chose which word they wanted to write on their chain and we connected them together. Our chain will be connected to the school chain!

After we had snack it was time for our Game Day celebration! Friends could choose from five different games! It was so fun!

Then after lunch we celebrated a friends birthday! It is our last birthday of 2016! We had so much fun learning more about our friend!

I also have very exciting news to share! Our classroom family will be welcoming a new member! He will join us after our vacation! We are really excited to welcome him and share our special learning moments with him!

It has been a wonderful busy week in kindergarten!

Day TWO!

Day two is truly wonderful! We have so much fun together! Today we started working on our first classroom book and WOW it's going to be AMAZING! So many beautiful illustrators and creative thinkers in this class. Also today we completed our first of many Math and Writing rotations. It's been a busy busy busy day! Now to the fun stuff. It's always said that pictures speak much louder than words and I agree 100%. So here are the pictures from our magnificent day TWO! Right after lunch we went outside to explore our school garden with Nurse Amy! We picked marigold seeds which we are going to plant in our classroom! Check out all the fun we had! Sunshine Chair

This is our Sunshine Chair! It is a very special place in our classroom where friends can go to relax, regroup, think and feel safe. In our classroom anyone can go and sit in the sunshine chair any time they want. Friends also may be invited to sit in the sunshine chair. While sitting in the chair friends are able to watch Zogika and calm their minds. It is not just for students! I myself have used the chair once or twice when I am feeling frustrated, sad or if I just need some space. I do this to model the expectations for how to use the sunshine chair, to identify feelings and to help friends self regulate.
