Last week we started a new type of writing! We switched from narrative to informational writing. Writers have been working on How-To stories. There have been How-To stories that talk about how to make toast, a pb & j, plant flowers, ride a skateboard, swim and much more! Currently there are three parts to our How-To writing that we are focusing on. The first is telling what we do in steps, then numbering the steps (making sure they are in order you can't eat a pb & j if it doesn't have any peanut butter or jelly on it!), the last part is making sure their is a picture for each step that is labeled and detailed!
Writers have been BLOWING me AWAY with their writing. We have hit the ground running and have been creating How-To books that are so informative that they are teaching others about things they love! It is so amazing to see! I can't wait to see what else they teach us about!
Some ideas for you to think about at home are talk through daily activities you do everyday at home. Use transitional language such as first, second, next, after, then, finally or last.
I wish you well!
Love,
Miss Brehm
