Math Menu (Workshop)

Today was our first day of Math Menu and it was a success! After a brief explanation of how it works each small group took off with their different activities and were engaged! Here is what our anchor chart looks like!
The anchor chart is up on the whiteboard so everyone can see. Then each small group (no more than three students) gets a Math Workshop Map. They take these maps with them to each station. The blue star is always me at my horseshoe table (it actually required me to clean it off SCARY!). The yellow hexagon, green triangle and orange square are always Mrs. Bahr working on PNOA skills (counting to 50, counting backwards from 17, one-to-one correspondence etc.). The red trapezoid, black rectangle and purple circle are different activities each small group gets to explore independently.

So far it has been working seamlessly! (Only one day, but I am an optimist!) The true test will be how it goes tomorrow (and the rest of the year :-D)!
I definitely have the best view in the house! I always LOVE looking up and seeing them working so hard! Truly an amazing class!

Hope you had a great Monday! I know we did!

Love,
Miss Brehm

First Day Fun!

Today was a wonderful day! We had fun exploring our classroom, learning different expectations and just getting to know one another! We enjoyed our first special today LIBRARY! Mrs. Burroughs is so nice and we enjoyed our time together. As a class we read the book Shh We Have a Plan by Chris Haughton. It is a wonderful book that we will be creating our first classroom book about! In the whirl of the end of day I forgot to send home the first day letters with our schedule. I will make sure to get them home tomorrow in Thursday folders. I am so happy that we are all together! I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us!  Love, Miss Brehm

PAINT DAY!

Paint is READY! We are SO excited to meet Mary and paint our elephant!! ____________________________ Today was AMAZING! It surpassed all my wildest dreams! As a group we had SO much fun creating and painting our elephants! What an amazing experience it was to end our year together on! I hope you enjoy the pictures and are able to come and check out the wonderful elephants we created with MARY! Our morning started with Mary sharing what she does and different murals she has done throughout the US. Then we watched a quick video of her time in Chester, PA painting elephants!  Then we started to PAINT! Here is the evolution of our elephants!  To the finished product! One elephant will be hung in our classroom and the other will be hung somewhere in the school for everyone to enjoy!  A truly AMAZING day!  I wish you well! Love, Miss Brehm
