GoNoodle

It is safe to say our class LOVES GoNoodle. GoNoodle is a great tool to use in the classroom and at home for breaks and fun! We start our morning off with two JAMs everyday!  Friends love and excitement for it got me thinking... why not share it with you at home! There are two ways for you to get involved with GoNoodle. You can use our classroom code https://app.gonoodle.com/class-code/E3PQMT or you can sign up for FREE!  Hope you get to rock out like we do! Love, Miss Brehm

4 Winds- Bees (Buzzzzz buzzzz) and Important Info

Yesterday was our last 4 Winds of the year! We had an amazing time learning all about bees! As a class we learned about the different parts of their bodies, did a little dance, examined the differences between bees and hornets, watched an engaging puppet show and finally went outside to discover man made beehives and the way bees let their friends know where to find pollen to turn into honey! At the end everyone was given their own honey stick to take home. It is the only natural product that never expires! (I never knew that!) Enjoy the pictures from our awesome time together! Some important information to note! There is no school for kindergarteners this Friday, April 21st, 2017 . If you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to reach out! We are hosting all school morning meeting Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 7:50 AM. Please arrive in the cafeteria at 7:45 . Help your child arrive a little earlier that day so we can prepare!  ...

Batty

Yesterday we began sending home our new friend Batty. As a class we created a star book based on Paul Galdone’s Three Little Kittens . There will be a journal, original book and our book coming home. Batty will only come home for one night . Please return him the following morning. If you take pictures please send them to me and I can print them and put them in the journal! The paper in the journal is different than last time. It was created using Fundations writing paper. Making it perfect for your child to write their own experiences with Batty! If you have any questions please let me know! We can't wait to see and hear about all the amazing adventures batty goes on! Love, Miss Brehm

Beautiful Day

The weather is stunning and we took advantage of it today! Instead of reading inside we went outside! We grabbed our book boxes, Mrs. Bahr had a blanket, and we went out to the playground to read! WOW! Readers did a great job and WE LOVED IT! Readers are working on introducing their books. Using language like "My book is called ____________." "It is about_______________." and "The pattern sounds like this_______________." or "My favorite part is this__________________." You can do this too at home! If you are reading a book with your child you can model introducing a book or have your child practice introducing! I hope you were able to enjoy this sunshine too! Let's hope the sunshine and warm weather is here to stay! Yesterday we learned a new math iPad game called Geo Boards! In math we started our new unit focusing on geometry and it is a great game that allows friends to explore creating new shapes! The...

The BFG & Birthdays

When it rains, we read the BFG. Yesterday we celebrated two birthdays! One of our friends turned six and I turned 25!  Thank you for all your well wishes! It means so much!  Unfortunately the Vermont Bucks were late due to unexpected reasons and we were unable to see them. Hopefully next time! Love, Miss Brehm

Shapes

We are finishing up our current unit in math and will be moving on to GEOMETRY! My favorite unit) To prepare for our unit we have started to work on our newest classroom book. As a class we have a love for I Spy books. Our book is inspired by them and wanted to create our own using shapes! During choice time we have been creating community paper using watercolors. Mathematicians will choose a shape that they want friends to find and an amount (1-10) of that shape i.e. 5 circles. Can't wait for it to be done and have friends exploring shapes and counting!  Love, Miss Brehm

I'm Back!

Hi everyone! I am sorry I haven't blogged in a long time! I had a horrible virus that wiped me out. That being said I am all better now and ready for an awesome week! We jumped into our week together and started to write! For our how to writing we talked about learning from mentor texts and how to bold important words. I stressed the importance of not bolding every word, but the word that are juicy! Mrs. Bahr placed a new information writing checklist in their writing folders to use as a tool! Just something to remind you of... Original Works will be sent in on Thursday, April 6th. Please if you wish to order something hand it in ASAP. I hope you have all been well! Love, Miss Brehm
