Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019

As 2018 comes to a close and we look to 2019 I can't help but smile. 2018 has been an incredible year with starting kindergarten, creating a classroom environment based on kindness and respect and the growth in learning not only academically but socially and emotionally we have covered a lot of ground. Even though we have accomplished so much there is still a long way to go. I am excited by and celebrate the amazing accomplishments we have achieved and also look forward to seeing the growth we make in 2019. As I have said before it is an incredible honor to teach your child and I am forever grateful to you for entrusting me with one of your greatest treasures. I wish you a happy and peaceful vacation and New Year.  Two creations are coming home today. The first is a 2019 calendar. We have been working hard on our number writing and wanted to show off our skills. Not all of the months are completed yet, but don't worry as soon as they are done completed months will be sent ...

James and the Giant Peach

Yesterday we finished our first chapter book read aloud...  James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl! We finished reading the book yesterday and today we celebrated by watching the movie! (Lots and lots to celebrate this week!) Together with Tia Ross' class we made our way through half of the movie and will finish it tomorrow. After watching the movie we will talk about the similarities and differences between the two. Friends have been working hard at remembering all of the different parts of the book and are already noticing parts that are the same and different! Happy Wednesday! I wish you well. Love, Miss Brehm

Goodbye Celebration

Today we said goodbye to one of our friends. She is moving all the way to Utah! In proper K fashion we sent her off with a cookie decorating party! Mrs. Bahr made yummy gingerbread people. Mrs. Keller brought sprinkles, chocolate chips and baggies and I made maple frosting. We had a blast sharing one last hurah with our friend. It really isn't goodbye, just see you later! We are sad to see her and her sister go, but know we will keep in touch!  I wish you well. Love, Miss Brehm

Holiday Sing-A-Long

This morning was filled with joy as we sang holiday songs at All School Morning Meeting. It was so much fun to sing together and celebrate the joy this season brings. The last song was the 12 Days of Christmas- some of the teachers decided to act it out. After lunch we enjoyed a wonderful read aloud by a parent volunteer. If you would like to volunteer in our class please email me!  I wish you well. Love, Miss Brehm

Buddy Reading CELEBRATION!

This morning we celebrated reaching our whole school PAWS points goal with BUDDY READING! Our class buddies are Ms. C's 2nd graders! It was lots of fun meeting older friends, sharing books and getting to know one another. We hope to read with Ms. C's class again really soon! Happy weekend! I wish you well. Love, Miss Brehm

A Buzzing Thursday

Today did not stop for us in Kindergarten! We started the morning working on a special surprise!! This class is full of creative artists! Later in the day we met author John Churchman and his two dogs! John talked about his farm, how he got started writing books, his inspiration and he even read us one of his books!  Check out our class instagram (@missbrehmskclass) for video of our visit with John!  Stay warm out there!  I wish you well.
